OUR RECYCLED & RECYCLABLE SOLUTIONS
Recycling and making use of recycled material are essential steps towards a circulair economy. Multitubes recycles as many raw materials as possible, offers various recycled material streams and has an ever expending portfolio of recyclable packaging.
POST-CONSUMER RECYCLED PLASTIC
Post-consumer recycled plastic, in short; PCR, is plastic which has been used by consumers & collected by our partners. The plastic is carefully separated, washed & regrinded into new raw materials, which we use for the production of tubes and closures.
Multitubes offers exclusive streams for guaranteed supply. We work closely with our partners to ensure safe and high quality end products.
PRE-CONSUMER RECYCLED PLASTIC
We are waste-neutral from 2021, this means that 100% of our waste will be recycled. We sort, wash and regrind all our waste on our in-house recycle equipment, realizing a food-approved recycled stream. Our recycled material can be used in both the tube and closure.
With our in-house developed tooling we produce PE closures in many shapes, allowing the complete pack to be made out of 100% PE. Mono-material tubes are perfectly recyclable and make sure no gram of plastic is wasted. This solution is certified by RecyClass.
Many brands use ABL (aluminium-barrier laminate) due to their demand of a high-barrier. However, ABL is non-recyclable due to its multi-material composition. We offer 7-layered extruded tubes. With this technique we’re able to offer ABL-matching barriers, whilst having a 100% recyclable pack. Due to our ultra-strong EVOH-barrier we’re capable of remaining underneath 5% of EVOH, which is considered to be the standard for recycling companies worldwide.
Besides being 100% recyclable, extruded tubes offer more benefits compared to ABL;
- Plastic memory, keeping a smooth and stable tube in its complete lifespan
- The possibility of having transparent tubes
- Unlimited decoration possibilities
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Combining our food-approved recycled stream with post-consumer recycled outer-layers is possible due to our co-extrusion technology. This enables a riskless use of 100% recycled material and over 50% of PCR in your packaging. Many customers use this solution today.
Usually black is difficult to detect within the recycling process. Multitubes solved this problem by developing black tubes produced with a carbon-free masterbatch. Without carbon our black tubes can be easily detected within the recycling process and will be recycled in the regular PE stream, just like any other tube.
Marks & Spencer's tubes and closures shown in this picture are produced with carbon-free black and 57% PCR in the tube sleeve.
